DonorsChoose.org!

Donorschoose.org is an organization that helps teachers from all over the country connect with people willing to donate funds to help purchase items for their classrooms.  DonorsChoose was created by Charles Best in 2000 so people could connect directly with classrooms in need. You choose which classroom you wish to donate to, and you can donate any amount, from $1 on up!  No matter how much you donate you still get to see pictures of the classes projects, how the moneys being spent, thank you notes. It's really great! (I've donated before and it's so nice seeing how I've helped a classroom in need. 

Plus it's really easy to locate a classroom.  You can choose one from anywhere in the country and from various projects.  In fact if you simply want to choose based on the project instead of classroom you can do that too. They also give you the choice of sorting by most urgent in need, age groups, teachers and quite a few more.

DonorsChoose.org Blog: Starbucks and MSNBC Team Up and You Can Too!

Hi everyone, here's a good one I found in last Sunday's paper. This one is good for anybody, even those of you who don't have kids in school.  Starbucks is teaming up with MSNBC.  From now until 12/31/11* when ever you buy specially marked packages of Starbucks Gold Coast Blend-Morning Joe Edition they will donate $5 to a DonorsChoose.org project of your choice.  All you have to do (besides buy the coffee, of course) is enter the code from the back of the package at donorschoose.org/starbucks.

Want an Easy Way to Donate to Schools?

People always say that they want to help but they don't have the time or resources well here's another way you can help with just a few clicks.  No need to even leave your computer area, much less your house, and it won't cost you anything but a few moments of your time: Ok, so Bing is continuing its effort to help out schools. It has launched it's $1 Million Dollar Giving Challenge.  From now til January 15, 2011, Bing wants to donate $1 Million Dollars to schools. How do you help? Easy. Simple easy and no money out of your pocket. Plus no need to even leave your house.   

Bing "Our School Needs..."Contest Finalists have been chosen!!

So for the Bing "Our School Needs..." Contest the final 15 contestants have been chosen!  Now it's time to go vote for which one of those schools you think deserves the prize. The school with the most votes will win $100,000.  Can't decide which one is your favorite? Thats ok, because you can vote up to 5 times a day. The only catch is you can only vote once for a school per day. So if you want you can cast your vote for up to 5 different schools every day.
Want another reason to vote? The first 30000 people to vote each day will get a $3 donation code for DonorsChoose.org.  DonorsChoose.org is an online charity site where teachers can post classrooom projects in need of funding. This is a really great program the  connects you to teachers all over the country. You can look through different project types or through differect economic levels, to choose a project that you wish to help with.
