I jsut wanted to give everybody an update on who the winners of the Bing "Our School Needs" contest were.
The $100,000 grand prize winner is:
Greenfield Hebrew Academy (Atlanta, GA)- whose quest for a new roof may soon be fulfilled so students will no longer have to avoid puddles in the hallways when it rains!
The three first-prize winners, who will recieve $50,000 are:
K-6: Patriot Elementary School (Fort Carson, CO) - students from this military post need cameras and technical resources to keep in touch with loved ones overseas.
7-9: M.S. 158 Marie Curie School (Bayside, NY) - this school hopes to bring back basic school supplies and after-school programs lost in severe budget cuts.
10-12: Oakland International High School (Oakland, CA) - in a school where over 25 different languages are spoken, teachers want musical instruments, art supplies and technological equipment to bring lesson plans to life.
The winner of the Ryan's Pick $25000 prize is:
James Singleton Chtr School (New Orleans, LA) -This school is trying to form a marching band and music program, and need the funds to help supplie musical instruments, etc to the students.
Also Bing was so impressed by the finalists that they decided to award $5000 to each finalist that did not recieve a grand prize, first place prize or Ryan's pick prize.

Bing "Our School Needs..."Contest Finalists have been chosen!!
So for the Bing "Our School Needs..." Contest the final 15 contestants have been chosen! Now it's time to go vote for which one of those schools you think deserves the prize. The school with the most votes will win $100,000. Can't decide which one is your favorite? Thats ok, because you can vote up to 5 times a day. The only catch is you can only vote once for a school per day. So if you want you can cast your vote for up to 5 different schools every day.
Want another reason to vote? The first 30000 people to vote each day will get a $3 donation code for DonorsChoose.org. DonorsChoose.org is an online charity site where teachers can post classrooom projects in need of funding. This is a really great program the connects you to teachers all over the country. You can look through different project types or through differect economic levels, to choose a project that you wish to help with. Are you a teacher looking for ways to raise money for a class project, or for a special speaker, or for even possibly a class trip? Want more information? What does your school need?
So remember the "Our School Needs... " Contest I told you about in the What does your school need post on October 12th? The one from Bing? Well they've extended the submission date to tomorrow, AND they've extended the time you have to rate the entries to the 26th! Did your school enter? Make sure you go and vote for them! Not sure? Go check! Can't find your school, then find one you like and vote! I'm sure you can find a school that you think deserves to win!
Remember the finalists are announced on October 29th, and then the voting begins to choose a winner. The last day to vote is November 5th and the winners will be announced November 9th! Go vote now!

I just found this contest this morning. If you know of any school that could use this money please feel free to let them know about it.

Bing will award a quarter-million dollars, divided among four schools—$50,000 to three first-prize winners, and one $100,000 grand prize
Who can enter and what you need to do:
Any student or teacher from a K-12 school can enter. While students under 18 are encouraged to create the entry, a parent, legal guardian or a teacher must submit it.
Students can work in groups, classes, or even school-wide to write an essay and take pictures finishing the sentence "Our School Needs: ___________." To enter:

- Write an essay (500 to 800 words)
- Take pictures (3 to 5 photos)
- Film a video (not required, but fun! Maximum of 3 minutes in length)
Schools will be broken out into 3 categories, K-6, 7-9 and 10-12. The top-voted entry in each category will be awarded a first prize of $50,000. The entry that receives the largest number of overall votes during the voting phase will receive the grand prize of $100,000.
The last day to enter is October 22nd!!!!!
